Expressions of interest to do a course wanted!!
(Australian Cross Country News, Autumn 1999)
The FIS Technical Delegate (TD) course, Level 1, will be run this year.
This is a chance for interested people who are involved in running X-C races to learn the rules and become qualified to Olympic official standard if they continue with the course in 2000. (For more information, see Technical Delegates.)
In 1999 it is planned to run one course in Victoria, and, if there is sufficient demand, one course in NSW during the winter. The course will consist of one or two days theory in a comfortable place, and one day out in the snow using a race as a case study, after which participants will complete some evaluation tasks. As there are no subsidies for the course, there will be charges to cover costs which will include accommodation and/or use of a venue and travel will be in participants' own vehicles.
We may be able to provide the instruction without charge, or minimal charge.
Fee: Around $100- $150, depending on venue.
Location: Near Falls Creek or Hotham and a study of a race at one of these is most likely.
Days: Course could be Thursday, Friday & Saturday or Friday, Saturday & Sunday
In 2000, the next level course will be run using some of the people who will be in Australia for the FIS Congress in Melbourne.
Expressions of interest in doing the course are invited now so we have an idea of where and when to set up this course.
