The Course

Due to the thick fog and extremely poor visibility, the decision was made to shorten the 42km course to two 18km laps to avoid the open areas of the Park and Heathy Spur. The course: 7km loop into Sun Valley,  across the dam wall, past Watchbed Creek, the Langfords Loop and back to the Nordic Bowl via the Pauls Track.  Kangaroo Hoppet skiers did this twice, Birkies once, and the Joey course was the regular 7km Sun Valley loop.

Weather & Snow Conditions

Overnight winds died down, and there was dense fog all morning, clearing to sunshine around midday. Apart from the poor visibility in the morning and then the softening snow later in the day, conditions were good.

1023 from 26 nations.

Elite sprints were held on Thursday night in the Village Bowl at Falls Creek.
