Conquestathon History
More about the History of this iconic event
The Mount Bogong Conquestathon is steeped in history. The event was first held in 1969 and has been run by the Upper Kiewa Valley Lions Club since 1974. There is only one person who has finished every event!
The Conquestathon had a break for two years due to Covid and bushfires. The declining members of the KV Lions Club meant they were no longer able to run the event.
The Hoppet organising committee believes that the Hoppet is a great fit for the Mount Bogong CONQUESTATHON as they are locally based and have the infrastructure, contacts and knowledge of managing participants in a remote locations to operate the event long term.
The proceeds of the event will be returned to the community in the form of donations to the not-for-profit BNSC SAR group who kindly providing volunteers on event day.
