Skiers with good fitness level or experience will enjoy the fully groomed 21km course with some climbing and spectacular views over the Rocky Valley Dam. Challenge yourself and experience the high plains wilderness in a supportive environment. Once you have crossed the finish line, mingle with other skiers and enjoy the after race vibe in the Falls Creek Nordic Bowl.
The 21km Birkebeiner starts and finishes in the Falls Creek Nordic Bowl and includes the Sun Valley loop followed by the anti-clockwise Heathy Spur loop.
There will be a single cut-off at the intersection of the Two Pauls Track and the Paralyser (approx 12km point). For thr saftey of competitors and volunteers, no skier will be allowed to continue up the Paralyser after 12.20 pm.
Any changes to the cut-off times and locations will be announced.
NOTE: The course is subject to change due to prevailing snow and weather conditions.
Any changes to the course will be posted in Windy Corner Day Shelter, the Hoppet Shop in Mt Beauty and in the Nordic Bowl on race day.

Birkebeiner Start times
From 9.40am. The start is seeded, with the fastest skiers (the first 30 bib numbers) standing on the front line. Skiers are grouped into start paddocks for groups of 100 (by bib number). Please enter the correct start paddock. Each paddock will move up the hill in turn, and start in waves at one minute intervals. Race times will be calculated from each wave's start time.
Bib Pick up
Bibs must be collected from the Race Shop in Mt Beauty next to the Info Centre, Kiewa Valley Hwy. The race shop will be open daily in August from 19th to the 24th, 2pm to 6pm; on Friday 25th from 10am to midnight, and on Race day, from 6.30am to 8.30am. Post Event- Race day from 2 to 6pm, Sunday 27th from 9am to 3.00pm
Race Day bus
A special Hoppet bus will take you from Mt Beauty to Falls Creek, Windy Corner for $25 U18 and $30 Adult return ticket when you register online. Only 100 seats are available and at this price they are extremely popular, so get in early! Pick up is at Mt Beauty Hoppet shop at 7am. The first returning bus will depart Falls Creek Windy Corner at 1pm (or when full) and the other bus will depart at 3pm back to Mt Beauty. The regular coach from Falls Creek Coach Service is also available.

If five or more members of a club, organisation or school are taking part in any combination of the 3 Hoppet events, remember to register the group when you enter. At the presentation evening in Mt Beauty pennants will be handed out to a group representative to celebrate your group achievement .
