The Kangaroo Hoppet is now proud to present three amazing sporting events each year.
Whether you are an elite athlete wanting to take on the world’s best, a weekend warrior yearning for some more adrenalin in your life or you simply enjoy getting outdoors with your friends, we can offer you a range of exciting and exhilarating experiences in the beautiful mountains of the Alpine Shire.
Join us in the Upper Kiewa Valley, for the iconic Mt Bogong Conquestathon in February/March, the Mount Beauty Running Festival in May, and the Kangaroo Hoppet international cross country ski marathon at the Falls Creek Alpine Resort and Bogong High Plains in August.
All are made possible by our major sponsors, AGL Energy, Mount Beauty and District Community Bank, Falls Creek Resort and our dedicated team of volunteers.

The 44th annual Mount Beauty Running Festival took place Saturday 17 May. It was a great day enjoyed by everyone involved. This event is community run and relies on a long list of volunteers. Thank you to everyone who gave their time, it could not happen without you.
A big thank you for the support received from the Mount Beauty & District Community Bank and the Alpine Shire. Also special thanks to Mount Beauty Rotary Club for volunteers, Alpine Radio for broadcasting at the event, Vegitation Wholesale Produce for donating the feed station fruit, Food Works Mount Beauty for providing lollies, Mount Beauty Playgroup for their bake sale and BBQ, and Mount Beauty Swimming Pool for the use of their facilities.

Have you been waiting to take a friend up Mount Bogong as part of an organised event to feel the safety, enthusiasm and support from participating with others? It’s 21km with quite the altitude, so you’ll need the support of friends and some prior training!

There is more than 1400 vertical meters solid up hill in the first 9km, then a challenging 12km decent so you’ll need all the prior hill climbing training and energy of a Weet-bix kid to maximise your enjoyment !
Mount Bogong Conquestathon is a volunteer led, local community event which supports the communities of Mount Beauty. Tawonga South and Tawonga businesses through the numerous spot prize vouchers which are awarded to participants and from the majority of participants who travel to get here, who will seek out local accommodation options to stay overnight on Friday and Saturday and enjoy cooling off in the Kiewa River, mountain biking, more hiking and enjoying several local shops, the pub, restaurants/cafes, bakery, wine bar and brewery in the local Kiewa Valley during the weekend.
Mt Bogong Conquestathon helps raise funds for local community groups, which include the Birkebeiner Nordic Ski Club Search and Rescue.
