Ski hire information for international visitors.

It is better if you can bring your own equipment. However, there are several possibilities for hiring skis. As Hoppet time is very busy, you should book them before you come to Australia to be sure of not missing out.

There are three main ski hire shops that have good quality cross country ski equipment.  Snow Trek and Travel (in Wodonga) has the best range of skis for classic technique.

1. YMCA Windy Corner Cross Country Ski Centre. Situated at the start of the ski trails, beside the car park at Windy Corner, Falls Creek. They have Salomon skating skis, but not the Pilot boot-binding system.   http://www.camps.ymca.org.au/discover/howmans-gap/windy-corner-cross-country-ski-centre.html Email: <This email address is being protected from spambots. 2. Rocky Valley Ski Centre, Kiewa Valley Hwy, Mount Beauty, (about 600m from the race office)  Ph 61 3 5754 1118 http://www.rockyvalley.com.au

3. Snow Trek and Travel (formerly Snowgum Wodonga), 161 High St Wodonga (85 km from Mt Beauty on the road between Sydney and Mt Beauty) This is another specialist cross country store. This family also has vast international racing experience. They can arrange drop off and pick up from Mt Beauty or Falls Creek if required, and have a representative at Falls Creek during Hoppet Week.  Ph + 61 2 6056 6605.  Email: This email address is being protected from spambots. Many skiers bring their own boots to be sure of a comfortable boot.

Contact the businesses directly and tell them what you require.  They will need to know the ski length, skating or classic, ski pole length, and, if you are bringing your own boots, the binding system you require.
